DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH
ESTABLISHMENT
The Department of English was established in this college in 1973. The college was started with a view to cater to the needs of women, especially coming from rural areas. Since the inception of the Department, it has been growing rapidly.
NATIONAL SEMINAR
The English Department conducted UGC sponsored National seminar on “Teaching English to the students of Higher Education on Feb 27th & 28th, 2012 in collaboration with Yogi Vemana University, Kadapa.
JKC (Jawahar Knowledge Centre)
The Jkc was started in our college on 25-04-2007 summer batch with 86 students.
JKC activities are supervised by English department faculty and we are giving training to the students on communication skills. English department faculty is acting as JKC Co-Ordinator and GEM. Large number of students are benefited through the JKC job drives and got placements in different companies.
LIBRARY
The Department has a library. It consists of three hundred books. Two hundred books were purchased under UGC funds for giving bank coaching, coaching for services for SC &ST students.
PG COURSE (An Extension of Higher studies)
P.G course was started in our college in the year 2012-13. To our credit, K. Reddy Jyothi (2012-14) and S.V. Yamini Sudha (2015-16) have got gold medal and University first rank respectively. We proudly announce that one of our students called G. Harisha is qualified in APSET In October 2021 conducted by Andhra university.
Skill Will Club
Objectives:
The programme aims to import soft-skills including communication skills, presentation skills. Personality Skills and Job-Skills help students to acquire General English Skills and help to remove mental blocks involved in communication. The skill will club aims to train students in soft-skills to empower them to compete in the job-market. Soft skills contribute to increasing the students’ performance and productivity at the workplace with excellent time management and communication skills. It helps the students to build a good relationship in one’s personal life and professional life.
